Building Your Lindy Hop Partnership

Wondering how to build a lindy hop partnership? Swing It Seattle recently held a 2-hour workshop on this very topic.

After a warm up dance, we opened with the following questions:

*What things do you like about your own dancing?

*When it comes to your own dancing, I would like improve ______

*Things I would like to do better with my partner

We asked students to write down their responses individually. They then shared and compared their responses with their partner.

This all seems simple enough, but having these ideas written out is something like forming a basic business plan. This simple exercise can give the initial stages of your partnership some focus. Trust me, you’ll need more than the common goals of “I just want to get better.”

If you find someone you’d like to work with, take 10 minutes before you start and do the exercise above.
