    Discover the joyous fun of the original swing dance, Lindy Hop! We start from the very beginning and make this class series accessible to everyone, regardless of experience. Get ready to have a whole lot of fun!

    Explore this classic swing era dance made famous in Newport Beach, California.

    BALBOA CLASSES

  • Collegiate Shag

    Originally called "flea hop", this unique and eye-catching dance style integrates cool footwork, lead/follow and choreography, useful musicality, all with a hint of randomness and silliness. There's kicks, hops, hitches, ball-changes, grapevines, chugs and breakaways.

  • Queer Swing

    While all are welcome in every Swing It Seattle class, Queer Swing classes are specifically focused on creating a Safe & Queer Positive Space. Here you’ll learn in the “ELEF” style meaning “Everyone Leads, Everyone Follows.”

    Explore the fun of solo swing, boogie, and Charleston steps. Classic and “new classic” routines are broken down in accessible ways.

Swing It Seattle Class Progressions

  • Lindy 1 & Queer Lindy 1

    Discover the joyous fun of the original swing dance, Lindy Hop! We start from the very beginning and make this class series accessible to everyone, regardless of experience. Get ready to have a whole lot of fun!

    *Queer Lindy Classes are taught in “ELEF”-style where “Everyone Leads - Everyone Follows”

  • Lindy 2 & Queer Lindy 2 levels: 2A, 2B, 2C

    Improve your fundamentals from Lindy 1 and expand your assortment of moves. Additional turns and Charleston patterns while upping your lead/follow skills and ability to intermix timings.

    Lindy 2a, 2b, and 2c can be taken in any order. There is different material in each series.

  • Lindy 3 & Queer Lindy 3

    Timing and styling variations are explored along with deeper partnering concepts. You will need to complete all levels of Lindy 2 (2a, 2b, and 2c) before moving on to this fun stuff!

  • Lindy Lab

    Specialty topics for those level Lindy Hop 2 and up.

  • Balboa 1

    Discover this classic swing era dance made famous in Newport Beach, California.

    Pre-req: No experience required, though some partner dance experience is helpful.

  • Balboa 2 levels: 2A, 2B, 2C

    Get shufflin’ with the classic swing dance, Balboa. This level will have a rotating curriculum, feel free to take this level more than once! You'll get something new each time.

    Pre-req: Familiar with the basic step and essential elements such as lollies, come around, and toss out.

  • Balboa 3 levels

    Take your Balboa to the next level! At this level you're comfortable with the basics, have used combos when you social dance, and maybe tried some individual styling. Different topic focus each session.

  • Collegiate Shag 1

    Explore the fun of solo swing, boogie, and Charleston steps. Develop a basic jazz dance vocabulary and the ability to improvise.

  • Solo Jazz 2 levels: 2A, 2B, 2C

    Build your jazz dance vocabulary and begin developing your own individual style. Discover how to connect classic jazz steps together in short, mini-routines and learn to improvise through games & fun exercises!
