Norma on the roots of rhythm

This is a wonderfully edited video of the Queen of Swing, Norma Miller. Here she addresses an audience of hip hop dancers about the roots of rhythm. She also talks about what made the Savoy Ballroom a significant place.

When we talk about doing these swing era dances, it's essential to understand the context and culture in which they developed. I can't possibly stress this enough! Without context, the dance would just be a series of steps.
